The numbers look great: fifteen thousand people saw the post, three hundred likes. Then you check how many people actually sent an inquiry, and it's zero.
That's not the ad failing. That's the ad doing exactly what you paid it to do.
Meta gives you what you asked for, not what you wanted
Pick reach or engagement as your objective and Meta shows the ad to people who like and comment the most. Those people aren't your customers, they're people who like liking things.
What to actually change
- Set the campaign objective to "Messages" or "Leads"
- Don't use the Boost Post button
- The first three seconds need to make clear who you're talking to
- Always have one clear call to action, not three
- Install the Meta Pixel before you launch the campaign
Likes and buyers are not the same audience
Meta knows who tends to like things and who tends to buy things. Those are two different groups and the platform does not mix them up. Ask for engagement and you get the first group cheaply, because it is easy to predict who will tap a heart. Ask for messages or purchases and you pay more per person, but you are paying for people who actually do the thing you asked for.
That is why a campaign with three hundred likes and zero enquiries is technically a success. It delivered exactly what it was asked to deliver.
How to check what you actually bought
Open Ads Manager and look at the objective column, not the view count. These five checks resolve most cases:
- Check what the Objective column says; if it reads Engagement or Reach, that is your answer
- Look at cost per result, not cost per click
- Compare the conversion count in the account with the enquiries you actually received
- If those two numbers disagree, the problem is measurement, not creative
- Turn off Advantage+ placements until you can see which placement brings enquiries
